Photography

Whether you are a hobbyist or a professional photographer, joining a photography club is one of the best ways to improve your skills. The aim is to provide various opportunities for our KALVIANS to open doors for improvement. A competitive photography club encourages students to participate regularly and rewards their efforts. Activities conducted by the Photography Club include regular meetings (monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly), exhibits, workshops and seminars, competitions, club outings, and field trips.

The main purpose of organizing a photography club for students is to highlight the significance of utilizing leisure time effectively outside their school life.

The photography club at Kalvi School is open to all students who have an interest in photography or wish to explore this creative outlet.

Photography Club Activities

The club advisers possess extensive knowledge of photography to supervise club activities and provide guidance to amateur photographers. Photographic expeditions and contests are conducted periodically to spark interest in picture-taking. During expeditions, students are assigned specific photos to capture, with a limit on the number of shots each individual can take, ensuring careful planning and execution.

After the first year of club activities, members are divided into two groups: an advanced group and an amateur group.

The essence of the photography hobby lies in doing all the work yourself—taking the picture, developing the film, printing the photo, and preparing it for exhibition. While color work often involves simply snapping a picture and having a commercial photographer complete the process, we encourage our students to capture everything they find worth remembering, thus educating themselves and those around them.

Members are exposed to various types of photography, including portraits, informal pictures of friends, event photography (plays, sporting events, fairs), and more unusual subjects like accidents, celebrations, buildings, machinery, landscaping, and animals. Workshops and displays of photographs kindle their interest in photography.

The club helps students strike a meaningful balance between life's experiences and the recollection of those experiences through the art of photography.
